Join me in a fascinating exploration of psychology and relationships with Jillian Tureck, a certified relationship coach, teacher and writer who for 20 years has taught others how to transform their relationships with themselves. Under the tutelage of Tony Robbins and world-renowned family therapist Cloe Madanes and fueled by an insatiable curiosity about what makes a relationship thrive, Jillian has helped thousands through her teaching and writing revolutionize their relationship with themselves so that they transform their relationships with others.
The psychology of individuals is interesting, and how individual psychology is influenced by groups, media, marketing and fear is an area I’m going to continue to explore. It’s like family systems but muchhhhh larger. And much more complex. Yet still simple in the narrow ways we respond when afraid — thanks to evolution and our amygdala. This is why I’M SO EXCITED that I got to interview Mattias Desmet! He is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at Ghent University in Belgium with a masters degree in statistics. As an academic researcher, Mattias started to study the statistics presented around the current events in early 2020 and it became clear to him that the stats needed further exploration and discussion, as did how we were approaching it psychologically.
This week I am so excited to welcome Dr. Jay Bhattacharya on the podcast. He is a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and directs Stanford’s Center for Demography and Economics of Health and Aging. Dr. Bhattacharya’s recent research focuses on the epidemiology of COVID, including the lethality of COVID infection and effects of lockdown policies.
This week I have a unique treat for you. After getting my dog Carl last April, I went on the search for a Dog Trainer and ended up meeting the incredible Annika McDade. Annika is a triple certified Professional Dog Trainer & Behaviour Consultant, who focuses primarily on the connection between dogs and their people. After working with Annika I was most compelled by her ability to relate canine training to human connection and relationship. In this episode we dive into dog training and connecting with our pets, and how it's correlated to our ability to connect and relate with humans.
The Alchemy of Initiation: Soul Work and the Art of Ripening This week I am absolutely elated to introduce you to the incredibly insightful, Francis Weller. Francis Weller, MFT, is a psychotherapist, writer and soul activist. He is a master of synthesizing diverse streams of thought from psychology, anthropology, mythology, alchemy, indigenous cultures, and poetic traditions. Having completed some of Francis' workshops myself, I couldn't wait to have him on to speak about the initiatory process and his theories behind soul-centered psychotherapy. In this episode, Francis leads us through a discussion of the soul, and how the greatest work and connection to the sacred is found during our greatest times of darkness and grief. We dive into what Francis teaches as initiation, a process which encompasses grief, loss, challenge, illness etc. where our identity is altered drastically and we land in the hands of something that is far greater than ourselves.
