This week I’m pumped to be joined by my good friend, Vitale Buford Hardin who is a top leadership consultant, driver of leadership excellence, and CEO of The Hardin Group, a leadership consulting firm. Tune in as we unpack perfectionism, why it manifests, how it affects us in the workplace and within our relationships, and ultimately how to actually heal from it.
I remember when I was afraid to get engaged in my twenties, someone told me I was just afraid of commitment. That as a man, it was normal. I wasn't supposed to run towards love, but rather just surrender — as if it was some sort of life sentence I would need to learn to tolerate. All of that couldn't have been more wrong. I wasn't afraid of commitment — I was afraid that love would hurt me. Join me this week as I explore my thoughts on commitment, marriage, getting feedback, having compassion for yourself and what it means to trust yourself in love.
This week I wanted to share some thoughts on taking responsibility for our relationships. When we begin to understand things like our unconscious biases, explore the programs we were raised with, and recognize the BS of what we've been taught relationally — we are presented with a choice. We can choose whether or not we want to do the work, sit with the hard stuff, and become the best version of ourselves. Expansion is readily available to us... will you choose it?
Alejandra Proaño is an Anger Management Specialist and is the co-owner of Moose Anger Management. She directs Healing Anger, the program for women that now runs online and worldwide. She and her team specialize in individual, couple and group counselling work on anger and addictions. Alejandra holds a Specialization in Family Therapy, a Master’s in clinical psychology, a Master’s in Science and a Master’s in Literature. I am so excited to have Alejandra on this week for an extremely informative conversation on anger - how so many of us don't truly know how to express it or feel shame in the emotion. Anger is necessary to protect the integrity of individuals in a relationship; it represents the need for a boundary. Our capacity for a compassionate expression of our anger, is usually the result of past trauma and experience. Tune in to learn more!
This is a very personal episode for me, this is my own journey with codependency. Throughout our lives we all become part of widely accepted social contracts through our childhood, religion, community and family. This is my story of breaking some of the social contracts that did not align to my own truth or integrity. It took a lot of vulnerability to break those social contract and also to open up on this topic, so I truly hope it resonates.
