“Our relationships are diving assignments and laboratories for us to learn more about ourselves and each other. We come together to understand a deeper part of ourselves.” — Shannon Kaiser
What a beautiful sentiment from Shannon Kaiser — and this sentiment is true whether a relationship lasts forever or comes to an end. Our relationships are a potent opportunity for learning, growth, and expansion… if we allow them to be.
When two people do their work and come together with new awareness and skills and understanding, magic happens. It’s not always easy or pretty but it is beautiful.
The misconceptions about life and relationships are plentiful… but maybe the most damaging is the idea that if it’s not easy, they’re not “the one.”
Now while I don’t subscribe to there only being one person out there, I do feel as though every single human who triggers us, including that sweet internet troll with the cat profile picture (I see you!), is a guru dressed in drag.
And, because romance is the most frequent and sensitive trigger of our stuff, it offers the most curriculum to aid us in our expansion inward into ourselves.
I’m curious: What has been the greatest lesson you’ve learned in your life through relationship? Which one took you the longest? Which lesson are you still learning?
Much love,
Mark
