There’s a story of two shoe salesmen who went to Africa… one came back and said, “It’s a lost cause, they don’t wear shoes.” And the other one came back and said, “OMG, you won’t believe it! A wide-open market, they don’t wear shoes yet!”
Two people, same experience, different lenses.
I get asked a lot about how to use social media and create content that stands out. How do you, if you’re a business owner, a brand, a creator, or an artist, create success where there are SO MANY people on social media doing similar things?
And how do we do all of that, without burning out?
Firstly, there’s always a lot of people doing a lot of things. As humans, we have a ton of sabotage mechanisms… beliefs and perspectives that justify why we shouldn’t begin, or continue. Seeing how many people are “doing the same thing” and using that as a reason to not go all in is an excuse. You might have a different excuse… so call that out right now 🙂
When the soul is being called, the path is revealed. When our hearts are YEARNING to step towards something, success is a byproduct of that.
But here’s the thing about the soul and our passions being revealed… and it seems to be almost always true: What will be required of you to bring forward what is within you will rock boats. It will ask you to become everything you’ve avoided becoming. The soul’s calling matters SO MUCH that it can be the fuel that has us walk through and become the medicine we’ve always needed.
This is the thing…. You already know this. So what I’m saying to you is not a shock… it’s just revealing to you what you feel.
To bring your gifts more fully into the world requires you to let go of toxic patterns and unproductive behaviours, heal addictions, and let go of or evolve relationships that require you to stay small and out of the passions of your heart.
“If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” ~ Gospel of Thomas
I say all of this because it’s not a content strategy you need, although strategy is important. It’s realness. It’s authenticity. It’s you being you and not giving zero f*cks, but giving the right amount of f*cks. Caring about the right things, and letting go and sending zero f*cks towards the wrong things.
You don’t have time to f*ck around. You don’t have time to hit pause on your purpose. You don’t have more time to hover in the ambivalence of your relationships. You don’t have time to date more deadbeats. You don’t have time to marinate in the pain of your past relationships.
And you certainly don’t need to copy what someone else is doing to be successful. You can copy their strategy, just don’t copy their delivery. Don’t copy who they are. Be who you are. Bring the fullness of you to everything you do.
Truth and realness are the ultimate algorithm.
Get ready, cause the world needs you. We’re all going to the next level.
Much love,
Mark
And P.S. I will talk more about how to use social media in a way that feels good.
P.P.S. If you wanna do a 2-day workshop with me to dive deeper into all of this, and get the brilliance of Selina Gray, sign up here and save your spot. We’re gonna be in LA on December 8 & 9. Bammmmm.
