Damnnnnn… it’s here. The time of year (amongst many) that brings up allllll the things.
Do you go home for the holidays? Do you not? Do you invite family over? Do you not? How do you deal with a toxic mom? What about an alcoholic dad? Or whatever other drama lives in your family system… And what if politics come up?! Ommmmmg.
Don’t worry, I got you.
If you feel a ping of guilt about thinking about not going or not wanting to participate in old family dynamics, well, that’s a good sign that you have some people-pleasing to heal. And if you’re afraid of disrupting your family system and the backlash in the WhatsApp thread, I got you.
For some people, holidays are really hard because they don’t have fond memories of them from their childhood… EFF that. Create new memories. Take your holidays back. Decide what everything means to you in your life… make holidays about LOVE and LIBERATION. YOU HAVE A CHOICE.
Be the black sheep who says, “I will no longer participate in this charade! I want healthy relationship dynamics! I want to relate to one another from love and curiosity, and respecting one another’s boundaries! And by the way, Uncle Tom is creepy, and mom is toxic and dad’s an alcoholic. Good? Let’s EAT!”
The black sheep frees the family system… or at least invites it to be free… it’s the rest of the family’s choice whether they choose to relate to you moving forward from wellness rather than wounds.
The secret to healing and breaking out of patterns is that if you’re free, so are they, they just don’t know it yet.
So, are you ready to be free? Let’s rock this mofo so you can get some soul swagger and heal and eat some turkey and stuffing, and not your feelings.
