Every creative I know was told by numerous people that they should “be realistic” and that they “probably didn’t have what it takes.” Every. Single. One.
The books you read and the movies you watch were made by the people who didn’t listen.
Be one of those people.
So many of us find the missions of our lives from the pains we’ve endured. I think it’s because when something hurts enough that you HAVE TO find your way through it, you access a level of commitment only available from the soul.
This is the same power that allows us to heal addictions. It’s the same power that places a boundary for the first time. It’s the same power that starts revolutions… it’s the same power that says, “No more!”…and, “Let’s fucking go!”
When we don’t listen to the voice within… what you might call your intuition, or God or whatever… we create life circumstances that force us to listen — aka rock bottoms. Rock bottoms are the non-optional collision with our soul. We’ve found the bottom of our bullshit. We’ve found the bottom of the false self we’ve presented to the world… We’ve exhausted the ability of our coping strategies to cope any longer with knowing we can be more, and not choosing that.
And we’re left with a choice — to become who we really are or continue to suffer trying to pretend that we’re not powerful beings who can create everything we desire… if we choose to.
